Wow, this seems like a long time ago. I met Josh Hamilton prior to the Futures Game at Turner Field in Atlanta, during the build-up to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 2000. This was less than one year before Hamilton started his downward spiral, before the injuries, the tattoos and the drug addiction. And it was long before his remarkable comeback and his jaw-dropping performance in the Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium last night (video highlights). An easy guy to root for.
